Round 1

First round of the Ipswich Under 15 Boys Season shaped up to be a great match with last years Minor premiers facing the reigning Major premiers, University of Qld. It didn't disappoint

With a number of boys away this week, it was always going to be a tough ask for UQ. After scoring first the UQ boys were full of confidence and looked to stretch the lead. The Wests boys were not going to be beaten that easily and managed to convert a penalty corner to put themselves back in the game.

The game flowed back and forth with neither side able to make an impression or gain an advantage in the circle until some loose marking by UQ allowed the Wests attack to put another in the back of the net.

The UQ reply was quick with a perfect touch in from the post by Ryley Dos Santos. Goal of the day, and it put UQ back in the game.

From here both sides lifted the intensity with the UQ keeper, Logan McDonald called on the shut down shots with some well timed and aggressive tackles on the Wests forwards.

Final score of 4 to 3 probably reflected how close the game was. A good start to the season and well done all.
